    Default Rubygems install

    Hi,

When I attempt to install ruby gems with "sudo ruby setup.rb", I receive the error, "sudo: must be setuid root".

I tried to change sudo permissions with "chmod 4111 /usr/bin/sudo", but then received this error, "chmod: changing permissions of `/usr/bin/sudo': Operation not permitted"

What am I doing wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thnx!
    John

Most likely this means you are trying to modify the file while logged in as a non-privileged (non-root) user. SSH to your system as root, or use su - to become root.

btw, /usr/bin/sudo permissions should be 4755, 4111 would not allow any user to execute it as they wouldn't be able to read the file.
