Default A Horde Email Problem Transforms to a MySQL Problem

This concerns a new cPanel VPS account: I tried using Horde and got this message:

    A fatal error has occurred
Could not connect to database for SQL SessionHandler.
Details have been logged for the administrator.

Looking through the Forums, I discovered this tip and tried it:
    /scripts/fullhordereset
    and got this message:

mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists!

In WHM I tried restarting MySQL and got this message:
/usr/bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)' Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' exists! mysql has failed, please contact the sysadmin (result was "Warning, no valid mysql.sock file found.mysql has failed").

I'm out of ideas. Is Horde broken because of MySQL not running? And how do I get MySQL running? And should /scripts/fullhordereset be used to correctly configure Horde?

Have you submitted a ticket regarding this issue? This appears to be an issue with your mysql installation, however we will need to take a look at this more deeply to see where the problem lies.

Ticket was submitted and issue was resolved. For anyone else that may encounter this problem, the diagnosis from support was: "...Cpanel was using double quotes in the /root/.my.cnf file and the latest versions of MySQL do not use the quotes."

    Hello,

Please update horde using the following command and check again.

    sh /usr/local/cpanel/bin/updatehorde
